About calmunity farms

CalmUnity Farms is a democratic worker cooperative equity farm in Elmira, NY. We use regenerative agriculture and permaculture principles to rehabilitate our soil, find alternative solutions to systems problems (such as invasive species management), integrate free range livestock, cultivate food forests and plant guilds, and reduce or eliminate dependence on irrigation and other resource-intensive practices.

We are currently building an NRCS-funded 3,000 sq ft high tunnel to expand the growing season, finalizing an application for a SARE grant on using KuneKune pigs to suppress the expansive areas of Knotweed strangling riparian zones in our region, and we are the caretakers of the Adon Allen Victory Garden at the Ernie Davis Community Center, Elmira's only urban farm. The 1,000+ pounds of produce are a valuable supplement to the free food programs feeding our community.
