Fresh locally grown food in collaboration with the CJFP Bistro, face painting, pumpkin decorating, inflatables, a live DJ, and much more. It’s entirely free so spread the word (although donations are always accepted and appreciated).

Transportation provided (or you can self transport to the farm in Elmira, NY). No equipment required. Accessible for all experience levels and abilities.
SCHEDULE
Saturday October 14, 2023
10:00 am Depart SUNY Geneseo campus (self transports may decide their own departure schedule ~ anyone needing local pickup will be scheduled 9:30-10a)
11:15 am Arrive CalmUnity Farms Cooperative in Elmira, NY. Unpack and setup.
11:45 am Enjoy a freshly harvested lunch and say hi to the pigs, cats, and chickens.
12:00 pm Hands-On Lesson: Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture
1:00 pm Begin work assignments including seed archiving, winter planting, food harvesting, dinner preparation, fence building, keyline design, and more!
**Breaks as needed throughout the day
6:00 pm Break for cleanup, dinner, bonfire, and a good night’s sleep.

Sunrise (or whenever feels good to you): Wake-up, Break camp, Farmer Breakfast & Coffee/Tea. Hands-On Lesson to Follow: Worker-Owned Democratic Cooperatives. Finish work assignments!

High Tunnel Build Party
Calling all builders!
After two years of waiting, CalmUnity Farms has finally received their NRCS-funded 3,000 square foot high tunnel (greenhouse). This building will allow us to extend our growing season, feed more people, and support our caretaking efforts at the Ernie Davis Community Center Adon Allen Victory Gardens, which feed thousands of people free meals in our community.
But we still have to build it! Join us for our building party weekend and lend a hand raising the roof (literally) for regenerative agriculture and community building. Join us for an hour or an entire day with a communal meal of freshly harvested food.

Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of scenic upstate New York, the Ferrario Elmira Jazz Festival is the Elmira-Corning area's premier regional summer jazz festival. Since its inception in 2012, the festival celebrates both local and international artists, supports area organizations and businesses, and strengthens the community. Volunteer Hours at EOP Victory Garden
All ages welcome! Tend to Elmira’s only urban farm while building community, learning a little about gardening, and maybe snacking on a veggie or two.
Caring for the Victory Gardens helps the Economic Opportunity Program feed nourishing, locally grown food to the people who need it most. Some basic supplies are available but bringing a few things with you (gloves, hand tools) would be helpful. Also, the garden is in bad need of a load of good soil if you have any suggestions!

People for a Healthy Environment Resilience Symposium
The People for a Health Environment presents “The Future Ain’t What it Used to Be” Developing Resilience Through a Healthy Climate. Saturday, June 10, 9:30a-4:30p at The Park Church, 208 W. Gray Street, Elmira, NY 14905. The event includes in-person and virtual (Zoom) speakers exploring topics such as the perils of landfills, urban agriculture, STEM the tide, depaving, livable communities, and regenerating biodiversity.
From 3-3:15pm, Zeke Pierce from CalmUnity Farms will be speaking on permaculture, food forests, and community gardening.
